Community Information:
Limon is a rural community with a population of 2,000
located 90 miles east of Denver on I-70.
Due to the Limon intersection of many highways near the town
limits, Limon is known as the Hub City.
The Limon community is supported by the following industries, State
Department of Corrections, Lincoln Community Hospital, agriculture, and
several service oriented businesses.
Schools:
Limon’s school district consists of one elementary,
one middle school, and one senior high school.
The average enrollment from year to year is 460.
Curriculum Features:
Limon offers a college preparatory program including
English, Math, Social Studies, and Science classes at all levels.
The school offers some specialty elective classes in Industrial
Arts, Fine Arts, Accounting, Spanish, French, Speech and Newspaper.
Post-Secondary Option:
Limon High School, in cooperation with Morgan
Community College offers a Post-Secondary Option for Juniors and Seniors
who demonstrate a high degree of academic maturity and responsibility.
Students who are on schedule to fulfill graduation requirements and
want to be academically challenged are encouraged to participate in the
Post-Secondary Option, which concurrently awards high school and college
credit upon successful completion of coursework.
Limon High School does not offer AP courses or Honors courses, only
college classes.
Extra-Curricular Activity Information:
Elementary:
music programs, kids council, beginning band.
Middle School: Junior
High Choir, band, football, girls and boys basketball, girls volleyball,
wrestling, boys and girls track and field, girls and boys cross country,
student council, and knowledge bowl.
High School:
Senior High band and marching band, choir, girls softball, girls
and boys cross country, wrestling, golf, football, boys and girls
basketball, girls volleyball, boys and girls track, baseball,
cheerleading, dance team, speech – forensics, knowledge bowl, L Club,
International Club, National Honor Society, student council, and Future
Farmers of America.

Annual Scholastic Testing:
All sophomores can take the PLAN test.
Juniors have the option of taking the PSAT.
The MAP – Measures of Academic Progress is given to grades 2-11
annually. The state testing system is the Colorado Student Assessment
Program (CSAP) administered to grades 3-11.
Class Rank:
Limon High School does not weight classes.
College classes that are taken for duplicate credit do not carry
any additional weight when factored into the student’s grade point
average.
